To start, choose a square piece of paper in your desired color or pattern. Fold the paper diagonally in half to make a triangle, then fold it again in half to form a smaller triangle. Next, fold the two bottom corners of the triangle up towards the top point, creating a diamond shape with flaps at the bottom.

Fold each flap up along the center line and then outward towards each side of the diamond shape. This creates "legs" for your umbrella that will support its structure. Continue folding and shaping until you have created all eight "legs," then gently pull them apart to open up your umbrella design.
